The KICEI (KID International Cultural Exchange Institute) facilitates youth exchanges among Korea and Japan which give young people the chance to experience another country and work together in a team. It's an opportunity to gain skills in areas such as project management and to improve the mutual understanding of the two countries in history, tradition, society and public affairs. Youth exchanges take place outside the school environment and offer a structured programme (eg with a mix of workshops, exercises, debates and role play).

The exchanges are open to young people aged 13-30 and last from 5 to 10 days. They can be the KICEI’s peer-to-peer stay program which provides a safe and friendly accommodation to each other. This type of mutual exchange program will have the advantage of being able to expand the exchange program without any limit. Youth exchanges enable young people to discover new cultures and friends, develop new competences, and better appreciate values like solidarity and democracy. The learning process is based on non-formal experience and involves mutual provision of accommodation between participants.

To participate in a youth cultural exchange project you need to link-up with the KICEI’s supervisor for authenticity approval which will be conducted in a remote interview. Basic understanding of peer youth’s country in history and society is required to participate in this program. This program is not under government grants or any other private contribution but thoroughly based on participants willingness and contribution of peer-to-peer stay. We hope that this program will lay down a ground work for enhancing mutual understanding of the Korean and Japanese young people in each other’s culture, history and people.
